Plan Your Travel and Directions

If you leave making your way to the location until right at the last minute, then you run the risk of getting lost, not being able to find the location, or panicking about getting parked. So it really does pay to plan ahead and almost go the route beforehand. You should also think about getting there early, to make sure that you get there in enough time, and don’t rush. Being late is a real no-no when it comes to a job interview. So make plans to be on time and to plan your journey.

Carry Your CV

There can be many reasons why carrying a CV with you can be a good thing. Computers at the interview location could have crashed, a PA or secretary could be off sick and there isn’t a copy available that you sent with your application. It can just be helpful to carry a CV with you, even if the employer doesn’t need it; better to be prepared.

Check Qualifications and Experience

It makes sense that you wouldn’t apply to work in a hospital if you weren’t a qualified doctor or nurse. But some other qualifications or requirements are a little more vague. However, it can be a good idea to check the list of desired skills and qualifications on the application list. The more that you can tick off, the better. For example, looking to get a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualification, or CIPD qualification with Arch Apprentices, isn’t always a prerequisite for securing a job in something like Human Resources or Learning and Development, but it can be the thing that makes the difference between getting the job or not.

Preparation is key when it comes to interview. And while you might not have all of the exact experiences, if you can show and talk about the things that you’ve done in the past, then it can make a big difference.
