Get to Know Your Customers Better

Get to Know Your Customers Better

One of the biggest mistakes that many businesses make is that they constantly strive to gain new customers rather than trying to retain the ones who have bought from them in the past. And one of the best ways of keeping hold of clients is by getting to know them as well as possible. This way, you can market your products to them better and determine what the problems are that your company is able to play a part in solving. Here are some of the ways that you can get to know your customers better.

Get Customer Reviews

Thanks to the internet, reviews are very easy to leave these days and they can come through a variety of different channels. When you do get negative feedback, you need to take this on board and work out what you can do to address it. There is no doubt that it can be very frustrating when it is listed publicly, but all you can strive to do is address any issues you may have had and improve in the future.

Have a Detailed Registration System

When customers register for your website, you can at least capture their basic information. You can even do this in a very straightforward way using KYC, PCI & AML compliant identity verification. Though you don’t want to put potential customers off by asking for too much information, you ask them a few more basic multiple choice questions which help you to understand them just a little bit better.

Survey Your Customers

Customer surveys can be invaluable tools which help you to discover more about the people who buy from you. Most people will become frustrated after a few questions, so multiple choice may be the best route to go down. However, you could encourage them to give you a little more to go on with some kind of incentive like a discount code or entry into a competition.

Engage in Social Media Conversations

Facebook and Twitter are invaluable tools which give you an instant portal to your customers. When a topic comes up which encourages people to engage directly with you, it is worth getting as much out of it as you can. Ask yourself why the topic has been so popular and whether there is anything that you can do to make more out of it for your business.

Hold an Event

Sometimes, you can’t beat a bit of face-to-face communication to find out more about your customers, and holding your own event gives you the perfect opportunity to do this. Alternatively, you could do this in the virtual world by hosting your own webinar. Don’t make it seem like you are mining people for information, but also don’t be afraid to ask them some of the direct questions that you want answering.

Getting to know your customers better is an ongoing task, but it is also one which will yield plenty of rewards in the world of business.
