No Spend Donation Ideas
Monetary donations are not the only thing charities rely on. From shopping online to volunteering, you can still make a difference. Here are 10 ways to support a charity without donating money.
When you shop on Amazon you can raise money for your chosen Charitable Organisation. All you need to do is choose your favourite charity, shop at smile.amazon.co.uk and Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible purchases.
Donate your services
Do you have a skill that you could offer to a local charity? Perhaps you are a plumber and could offer your services or maybe you are a graphic designer and could help with branding? Maybe you own your own business and could help advertise on behalf of the charity. A good charity would be able to turn anything into support, it is just knowing how.
Attend and support events
Many charities will hold events throughout the year, some will even be free to attend. However if they cost to attend, you could support the event by sharing with your friends/family and/or across social media. Better still, perhaps you might know someone who could sponsor an event and could create a contact link between the charity and potential sponsor.
There are so many volunteering opportunities, from having a cup of tea with an elderly neighbour to volunteering in a local school. Not only do you get to give something back, but you get to be involved with your local community.
For every £1 you spend, you can add 25p to the value of what you give, by using gift aid. Did you know that you can Gift Aid donations of belongings as well as money? This leads me on nicely to my next no spend donation idea..
And donate your unwanted items to a charity shop or local cause. Don’t forget to add gift aid! Anything from household items, toys, clothing, anything you no longer need, or brings you joy. Take them along to your favourite charity shop.
Donate your birthday
This year, instead of requesting gifts, request donations. Ask your friends/family to donate to your favourite cause and make it a birthday to remember.
Easyfundraising allows you to choose a charity and in return for using their links whilst you shop online, they make a small donation to your charity of choice. All you need to do is start your online shopping at easyfundraising, then shop as normal. Minimal effort on your part, but a massive help to your charity.
Instead of giving your own money, why not start a fundraiser for your charity of choice. There are 1000’s of fundraising ideas that will not cost you a penny. Most charities will even help you with ideas and might even help you organise your fundraiser.
Helping a charity get its message across is just as important as the monetary support. Re-posting and sharing their social media posts costs nothing but can help their post reach a much wider audience. This could turn into a new follower, a new donation, a new contact or a new supporter!
