Surveys

Earn Money with Surveys

Surveys have been the bread and butter for many people looking to earn money from home. The pay may not be fantastic however they are plentiful and you can earn a good few hundred pounds a month from this. They are very quick to do and for many people, they are able to earn money from home surveys while sat in front of the TV and using their laptop so this is perfect during those self-isolation days. There are around 30 Survey companies I would recommend such as Qmee, Prolific, LifePoints and YouGov, through to options like the Nielsen Smartphone Panel who give you the chance to earn money directly from your phone.

Online Focus Groups

Respondent Studies

For anyone that has done traditional focus groups in the past, they will know that they more often than not required you to attend on your own or in groups where you would answer a handful of questions have a discussion and then get paid around £50. Over the years more and more of these have become ‘online only’ people the chance to earn some great money from home. Online studies are typically done via Webcam using software like Skype or Zoom and generally, happen as a 1-2-1 chat though every now and again I’ve done them as a Google Hangout where you chat with other participants. There are 2 main companies I recommend, TestingTime and Respondent. They both offer a HUGE variety of studies and with the coronavirus meaning people need to stay out of groups and at home, I can only see the sheer amount of studies increasing over the coming months.

Make Money from Your Extra Parking Space

Even during a global pandemic, millions of people all over the UK are still wasting hours trying to find a parking spot near work every week. Finding a free space in the bigger cities can be next to impossible, so people settle for spots in dingy parking garages charging inflated day rates. That doesn’t have to be the case – now you can turn your driveway at home into a Stashbee parking space, rent it out to a tenant who works nearby and earn as much as £760 for your troubles at the end of the month.

The concept is win-win, as it helps desperate commuters get out of a difficult situation, and guarantees a way for property owners to make extra money from home. Stashbee gives renters the option of renting for long periods at a pre-set price, with no hidden fees or surprises. This makes it a relatively easy sell, and means that you will know exactly how much money is coming in druing a given month. It’s as simple as creating a free listing, and waiting for the booking requests to start coming in.

Website Testing

Online testing jobs uTest

If you have an eye for detail then website testing via companies such as uTest is a great way to earn money. You take part in projects which are run by some VERY well known UK and US brands and you are asked to look for bugs/issues on their website by performing a set of tasks. UTest tends to be the best-known company out there offering this sort of work which can be a bit technical at the start but once you get going and learn all the lingo it can be a VERY profitable side hustle and you may find you carry on working for them even after Covid19 has vanished! You need nothing more than a laptop and the ability to follow instructions so it’s a great one to dip in and out of.

Social Media Rating

social media rating

Want to help make Social Media a better experience? If so you could do worse than apply to be a Social Media Rater with Lionbridge. The work paid £300+ a month and typically takes around 20-30mins a day while you help improve the experience users have on various social media platforms. The work is on a 12-month contract so it offers the chance to bring in an additional £3600 throughout the year and is all done via your phone. If you are interested in this or any other opportunity Lionbridge offers such as Web Search Evaluator work (alongside Appen) which pays over £9+ an hour (£500+ a month) then make sure you come and chat in our dedicated Lionbridge thread on the forum if you have any question.

20 ways to make money doing Risk Free Matched Betting

After the hiatus of sporting events in the UK and around Europe everything is thankfully back in action! This means that a HUGE amount of money can now continue to be made from Matched Betting. The best thing is that you don’t even need to be a big fan of these sports (or understand how they work) to take advantage of this risk free venture!

Data Entry

Data Entry Jobs

If you are fast on your fingers then Data Entry can be a great way to bring in some extra income while you are self-isolation. You can pick up a lot of work via sites like PeoplePerHour and Fiverr. Data entry work is very easy to get started and typically involves working with word documents or spreadsheets as you enter information that is given to you in another format. The work is plentiful and it doesn’t typically take you a long time to do each piece of work so it can be a great income to dip in and out of. With the Gig Economy being as popular as it is more and more companies and using homeworkers in this ad-hoc way to get work done than actually hiring a permanent member of staff so if you do a good job then repeat business is sure to come!

Offer Home Tutoring

online tutoring jobs uk

With the education system becoming unstabilised due to the Coronavirus a lot of people are looking at how they can earn from home. There are a number of options here where you can make money. You could offer courses via Udemy if you could produce your own material and once that is made you have very little involvement as Udemy do all the promotion for you!

If you are wanting to get more ‘hands-on’ with online tutoring then look at companies like Education First which pay £9.35 – £11.48 an hour teaching people English as a second language or if you don’t have any formal teaching qualifications you could look at Cambly which pays around $10.20 per hour.

A lot of people who get into online tutoring worry they need to look professional in-front of the camera. This honestly isn’t the case, you don’t need to be sat there looking like a school teacher or have invisible tape in hair extensions in place to give a good impression, so instead just pull up a seat and get tutoring!

If you fancy giving Online Tutoring a go during the Covid19 outbreak then take a look at our Top Tips on how to earn money as an Online Tutor during the Coronavirus outbreak blog post.

Transcribe Work

Transcribe work

For a lot of people who are forced into working from home using a laptop and a headset in their ‘home office’ will be second nature! It’s because of just how easy it is to do more work is available than ever if you are good at Transcribing. The work typically involves listening to an audio file and then typing up what is said. The main companies offering this sort of work are TakeNote which tends to be one of the highest paying ones out there, Casting Words and Rev. Some of the work can be quite technical and others are literally typing up a phone conversation of a 1-2-1 meeting.

Declutter and make some cash

Declutter

With all of the time that we’re spending at home right now, you’ve maybe noticed those odd boxes that were never unpacked from your last house move. Perhaps you’ve realised that your kids don’t really need quite so many toys as you’ve fallen over them for the 5th time today. Whatever it is that you seem to have an abundance of, why not use the time that we have during lockdown to have a clear-out and turn those unwanted items into cash?

The obvious place to go to sell some of these items is eBay. On this site, you can sell practically anything, and you can get your item in front of a huge audience of potential buyers. As a private seller (which you are if you’re just having a clear-out rather than running a business), the fees to sell are minimal.

If eBay isn’t your thing, there are other sites such as Vinted (great for selling your unwanted clothes), Music Magpie (old phones, laptops, DVDs, CDs, and games), as well as CeX (games, game consoles, mobiles, laptops, etc). Whatever it is that you are looking to sell, there is bound to be a marketplace where you can do this.

Making money from photographs

Making money from photographs

Are you a dab hand when it comes to taking a decent photograph? With how far the cameras on mobile phones have developed in recent years, it’s never been easier to take a decent quality photograph. Although owning one of the latest, most advanced cameras would be nice, our mobile phones still allow us to take some pretty amazing snaps.

If you’re someone whose mobile is full of photos, why not look at turning them into cash? If you have photos of picturesque scenery, inner-city shots, sporting events, or even a laptop sat on a desk, people will pay for these.

The internet relies on content, and so word after word is produced each and every day to keep websites going. What people need alongside all of these words is a great image or 2. Something that grabs a reader’s attention and also breaks up the monotony of seeing so many words on a page. Sites such as ShutterstockGetty, and Alamy will allow you to upload your photos. When anyone goes on to pay and download one, they will reward you with a commission payment. A great way to turn a hobby into a way of making cash from home during coronavirus.

Sign up with Clickworker

clickworker

Clickworker is a site that pays users for completing micro-tasks. These tasks are all based around training artificial intelligence, and can sometimes give you a bit of an insight into what some of the upcoming developments are.

It’s easy to sign up to Clickworker but to have access to the full range of work that they offer, there is a test that you need to complete and pass. It is not overly taxing: as long as you have a decent grasp of the English language you will find it a breeze.

The downside to Clickworker is that some of the tasks can be monotonous. It may be the case of repeating variations of the same task 100 times (which only takes half an hour to an hour), to earn around £5-£10. On the flip side, they also have tasks that pay £10-£12 for just 30 minutes. The latest one that has paid this amount has involved reading news stories online while your eye movement is tracked. Not always the most exciting work, but an easy way to earn extra money from home during coronavirus.

Get paid to rate music

Get paid to rate music

One of the wonders of the internet is that whatever you have an opinion on, there is going to be someone willing to pay you for it! Our opinions are massively valuable to all companies out there, and sharing them helps us shape the direction these companies go in, in the future. The world of music is no different: record labels want to know what you think, and you can get paid for telling them.

Slicethepie is one place where you can go and get paid for giving your opinion on music. By signing up, you get the chance to listen to new, unreleased music, and then you’re asked to leave a review. Your feedback goes directly to the artists and record labels and influences their decisions on what to release and who to put forward for radio placement.

The more you have to say, and the more detail you give, the more you will get paid. You are encouraged to be as detailed as possible with your feedback and then rewarded for it. If you have an ear for music and would love your opinion to be heard, this is a great way to earn some extra money from home during lockdown.

Earn cash by getting crafty

Earn cash by getting crafty

You can earn extra money from home during coronavirus by turning a hobby or passion into a full-blown business. If you are the creative type and can design and make jewellery, design prints for wall art, or literally make anything at home, the chances are that you can sell it.

Etsy is an online marketplace that specialises in selling handmade products that are designed by people like you and me at home. Setting up a storefront is easy and can be done in a matter of minutes. Having a browse around the site can give you some inspiration as to what to sell, but members of The Money Shed have had great success with selling personalised prints as wall art.

Etsy isn’t an overnight quick buck: it takes time to understand keywords and get your products ranked, but once you crack this you have the opportunity to make thousands of pounds each and every month. Any free time that we have while at home during lockdown, can be used to establish a business that will be thriving long after restrictions are lifted.

So there we have it, that’s a few thousand pounds worth additional income you can bring in while we muddle our ways through the Coronavirus pandemic. If you are looking for additional ways to bring in some money there is always Blogging, Text Q&A Work, Adult Work, Earning a Passive Income or even earning money by sharing your computer’s resources! Once all this clears then you could look into ‘out and about’ work like that found on smartphone task apps such as Roamler or BeMyEye or even Traditional Mystery Shopping! If you need any more help or support then please come ask on our forum as everyone on there wants to help you earn the absolute most you can from home!
